How do you make a pig fly?

Our CMMI Journey of Discovery and Verification

The BT Health Spine Programme is one of the largest and most critical UK Systems Integration Programmes - in fact currently Europe's largest ever Systems Integration Programme.  This presentation will look at the challenges we faced adopting CMMI on a major programme including the following:
- Working with Offshore Development Partners who were at a Higher Level of Maturity
- Mix of consultants, contractors and permanent staff within scope of the appraisal
- Transition from Compita PPA Discovery based Appraisal Method to SEI SCAMPI Verfication Appraisal Method
- Switching of SEI Partners and hence Lead Appraiser mid stream
- Loss of key people to the appraisal
- Loss of Sponsor mid-Appraisal
- Adopting CMMI with highly visible public domain delivery dates
- Maintaining focus when told we were operating at Level 3
- Understanding the difference betweeen Class B operating at Level 3 and Class A being Level 3
- The pitfalls faced and how despite all the challenges through strong sponsorship we achieved our goals where others failed.
- The importance of selecting the right consultants to support your programme
- The importance of defining the Method Architecture at the outset and having a vision of the solution
