The SEI today and in the future
For nearly 25 years, the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) has served governments, industry, and academia as a trusted source of technology research and development. As part of Carnegie Mellon University—a global research university of more than 10,000 students and 4,000 faculty and staff—the SEI operates at the leading edge of technological innovation.
The SEI was established by the US Department of Defense to help government and industry organizations develop or acquire the right software, defect free, within budget and on time. The SEI works in software architecture, network security, performance critical systems, integration of software intensive systems, risk management and process improvement. One of SEI's most established global products is the SEI’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®) which helps organizations mature their software engineering processes to improve long-term business performance.
