Lessons Learned in Configuration Management

Now, more than ever, companies want to being new products to market faster and reduce the costs of producing these products. The CMMI® has emerged as a strong tool for helping organisations achieve these goals by capitalising on industry best practice. Within the CMMI® model a key area of best practice is configuration management, this provides a firm foundation for the other process areas in the model. There are two main aspects to configuration management: Source files and release configuration management and change request management. These two areas are often addressed by different tools and in this presentation it will be shown how success is critically dependent upon the integration between these tools.

Eric will share his experience of implementing configuration management practice and tools, the key lessons learnt and five steps to configuration management best practice.
